William Hutton Silver Plate Olive Spoon
William Hutton Silver Plate Olive Spoon
For the cocktail nerd… a rare English silver plate olive/cherry spoon made by the firm of William Hutton & Sons of Sheffield, dating from around 1900. Originally designed for cherries, this could also be used for olives or even as a cocktail stirrer, though its curved design makes it better-suited to its intended use. Measuring nine inches in length, this is an elegant and functional piece and an ideal gift for the home bar enthusiast or anyone who appreciates old silver.
William Hutton was a prestigious silversmith who started his business in Birmingham in 1800 before transferring to Sheffield in 1832. Upon the founder’s death, the firm continued as a partnership between his two sons William and Herbert, and set up a London showroom in 1863. The business was absorbed by James Dixon & Sons in 1930.
